KELAPA GADING JAKARTA

Kelapa Gading is an area in North Jakarta municipality bordering with Kemayoran area at the west and Sunter area at the North. Before it was swamp area with plenty of water and looked uninviting. It is not known why this area is named with Kelapa Gading meaning yellow coconut, while there was never any such palm ever live in the area. East Jakarta is not well known both in travel society and historical aspect, as it is relatively new extension of the giant Jakarta city, which is close to the region of Bekasi, West Java.

Despite the fast and most orderly developed area of Jakarta there is no hotel available in the area. The closest area where one can find accommodation are in Kemayoran along Jalan Gunung Sahari or further north at Danau Suner area. This is probably the indication that the area has nothing valuable for tourist beyond shopping mall and residency estates.

Chinese businessmen totally attracted by the are due to the myth that damp area will be favorable for wealthiness of life or business. Because the area also believed to have been the position of Dragon head according to Fen Sui belief, and will give prosperity to its dwellers. This belief has changed Kelapa Gading into one of the most tedious dwelling and space management in Jakarta. The Kelapa Gading giant trade center has only a few shopping centers. Kelapa Gading Mall, well known for its good fashion assortments, and is divided into smaller section such as the Catwalk for up scale boutiques, fashion hub for young trend, and a bridal section.

Various apartment for residential hire are available in this area such as Paladian park, the Summit, and the Kelapa Gading Square. Some sport centers are also available such as Kelapa Gading sport mall with its high quality basket court, indoor football and automobile sport, banks, and international school such as the Taiwan School and North Jakarta International School.

Food is excellent at Kelapa Gading Mall and outside the mall, especially along Gading Boulevard. There are also restaurant with open air seats outside the mall, just next to them. For the night life of the area it seems only karaoke the only option such as Happy Puppy and Vista Family. This is probably the result of the main target of the area, only for businessmen and their wealthy family.
