KEBAYORAN BARU JAKARTA

Kebayoran Baru is a new suburb located in the area of south Jakarta municipality, just on the side of Gatot Subroto toll road passed by jalan Jendral Sudriman, Jalan Asia Afrika and jalan Walter Monginsidi as the main roads. Kebayoran Baru is bordering with Slipi of West Jakarta, and Kuningan in the east and Kemang in the south. What makes the area of Kebayoran Baru is different from other parts of Jakarta is the way of naming their sub-areas or sub settlements. All administration for smaller area unit is called Kelurahan which is under the Kecamatan government, but in Kebayoran Baru is called " Blok" just like English block to refer the spatial unity in relation with government administration. So, one will know Blok M, as the most famous mall and bus terminal, Blok A with traditional market.

What makes Kebayoran Baru is well known is the complex of Senayan and Istora Bung Karno Sport center which is the biggest sport center in Indonesia and one of the biggest in Asia where the first Asian Games among Asian nations during the first president of Indonesia Soekarno. The location of Senayan is at the northern part of Kebayoran Baru on the side of Jalan Gatot Subroto. Within the complex of Senayan are found deluxe hotels such as Twin Plaza hotel, Golden Boutique Melawai Hotel, Ambhara Hotel and Grand Mahakam Hotel.

Taman Ria Senayan or Senayan Fun Park is also located in the Senayan complex. This park is good place for family recreation, very close to olympic stadium, equipped with beautiful lagoon with landscaped garden. What is the most interesting at Taman Ria Senayan is the variety of restaurants which offer various cuisines. Entering this park is based on entrance fee. The famous Sate Senayan restaurant is the special mark of the Senayan food area.

Kebayoran Baru as happened also to Kuningan is the fastest growing area with various shopping malls starting from Blok M Plaza. Within Blok M itself are several choices of shopping places, underground Blok M Mall to up scale Pasaraya Grande. The only problem one has to be careful to walk or roaming in the area as some pick pockets are still exist. The bus station of Blok M is still not yet organized systematically which looks mess and unorganized, but this station is the closest to central Jakarta from airport or southern part of Jakarta.

Other interesting place is Senayan Golf Club, located close to Jakarta Stock Exchange building and Plaza Senayan. Other sports can be joined in the Senayan are basket, tennis and soft ball. Senayan is not as humid and hot as Blok M where most of the earth surface is covered by concrete.

Night life at Senayan or Kebayoran Baru are plenty, especially for the young such as Embassy Club, located in Taman Ria, Bugils Cafe, Red Square Bar and some at jalan Faletehan. Here you can find from local, European and Asian food with up class quality such as the restaurant in Hotel Grand Mahakam.
