WEST JAKARTA

There are 3 airport in Jakarta including Kebayoran airport, Halim Perdana Kusuma airport and the latest is Cengkareng airport. Halim Perdana Kusuma airport was the first airport in Jakarta which is now as the base of Indonesia Air Force, and the Kebayoran airport is considered not suitable anymore for the activities of International flight traffic. The location of this new and huge airport is 60 kms from the center of Jakarta city, located on a plain land on Cengkareng area near the industrail city of Cengkareng. The transportation from Cengkareng can be an expensive costs especially if the transportation is on private basis. In case one bring valuable belonging it is greatly suggested to use the service of tour operators or legal transportation companies.

Some interesting places to add the stay with more interesting and relaxing both during business or just passing by the city with at least 1 day stay. such as:
Taman Safari Jakarta Taman Safari is located at Cisarua, Bogor region around one hour driving from central Jakarta to the south. The location is on a mountain, where the town of Bogor is popular for the resident of Jakarta as sight seeing tours and week end. The temperature in the area is very nice due to the high place. The Taman Safari Cisarua is an interesting place outside Jakarta which can be reached by toll road leading to Cisarua and on either side of the road are wild flowers bougainvilleas, medium trees and some coconut trees. Taman Safari covers 75 hectares giving natural habitat for some animal species such as hippopotamuses, lions, komodo lizard, Sumatran elephants, and single horned Sumatran Rhino, monkeys, orangutans, giraffes, axis deers, and indigenous Java birds. The park has baby cabs where young animals are put and treated. The park also prepares a circus and recreation for children. Visitors can visit the park and peep the animal from the window of the car, and need around one and a half hours to complete the tour. The park receive growing number of visitors from the resident of Jakarta. The people of Jakarta combine the visit of the park with overnight weekend around Bogor and Puncak Pass area, where there are available various hotels and villas. Foreign tourists also count Puncak and Bogor as one of the important visit both from Jakarta and as part of other itineraries that started from Jakarta.

Textile Museum Located at Jalan Aipda KS Tubun no. 2 - 4 Jkarta. The area is known as Tanah Abang, Jakarta Pusat or Central Jakarta as the biggest center of groceries. The building is also old one, which was owned by a French in 19th century. In 1932 the Social Department Affairs of Indonesia bought the building and since 1975 beame the property of the government of jakarta municipal city, and inaugurated as textile museum. The textile collection consits of traditional cloth such as songket, and a list of 500 types of traditional textiles. Indonesia is known to have many traditional textiles such as batik, ulos, endek, endek ikat, Minangkabu songket, Dayak songket, and many others. The knowledge of weaving technique from simple traditional to modern fabric can be found here. The museum also organize courses on tie-dye, silk painting, hand made batik, stamp processing and others. The museum opens daily from 09.00 - 14.00, Friday to 13.00

Maritime Museum Maritime museum is located at Jalan Pasar Ikan no.1 jakarta. Ikan is bahasa Indonesia for fish. The building of maritime museum is the witness of the glory of spice trade in the past, as this building was the warehouse of the VOC spices in 1652. In 7 July 1997 the building functioned as the Maritime Museum of Indonesia. Their exhibition covers traditional boats ( original and replica ) like famous traditional boat of phinisi, pandekawang, Alor Pasa boat, Kora-kora boat, and also modern boat miniatures. Navigational tools, anchors, model of light house, antique cannon, aquatic animals, sea archaeology, and many others. The history of shiping between Indonesia and the Netherland marine tourisme, Navy information, and in short marine information can be found at this museum. It is listed that the total collection reaches 1670 items. The maritime museum maintains close cooperation with many embassies of related countries to develope and promote the museum. It opens daily from -09.00 to 15.00 exept Monday
