The Betawi People
The Betawi, Origninal Resident of Jakarta. The original population of Jakarta city is known as the Betawi which is actually mixed ethnics Javanese, Sundanese, Balinese, Nusa Tenggara, Sulawesi and Ambonese. During the celebration of the 474 birth day of Jakarta in 2004 the government of Jakarta planned to use the area of situ Babakan, Srengseng Sawah at South Jakarta as the center of Betawi settlement. The area covers 165 hectares which will include the area of Situ Babakan and Situ Mangga Bolong with the border at the north the street of Moch Kalfi II, at the east Jalan Putera, jalan Mangga Bolong Timur, at the south jalan Tanah Merah, jalan Srengseng Sawah, jalan Puskesmas. This center of Betawi village is designed to preserve the culture of the Betawi people as the heritage from Jakarta city and expected as one of the interesting places at south Jakarta which can encourage tourism. To reach the area, visitors will pass the local farming. The settlement consist of 4 small units called RW ( Rukun Warga ) with total resident around 3.000 families. Besides the original Betawi, there are also people from outside Betawi, but have been stying here for more then 30 years. The interesting cultural aspect of BHetawi can be met by visitors will be architecture, language dialect, dances, music, drama, food and others as the specific to Betawi people. Today Situ Babakan as the irrigation, fishing and boating.

Rangunan Zoo
The location of the zoo is at Jakarta Selatan or South Jakarta municipality.
